Ganryu Duel

The one who arrives late is the one to fear.

How wins work

  • The grid is 5 reels × 5 rows with 20 fixed paylines.
  • A line pays when the same symbol appears on 3 or more consecutive reels from the leftmost reel; only the highest win on each line counts.
  • Issen (the wild) substitutes for regular symbols. A line that crosses an expanded duel reel is multiplied by that reel's multiplier — across several duel reels the multipliers multiply.
  • Small boats do not pay on lines: 3 or more anywhere start Late Arrival (free spins).

Paytable

Values are multiples of the total bet for a line of that length: win = total bet × table value (the same numbers as the in-game paytable). A line that crosses a duel reel is also multiplied by that reel's multiplier, and several duel reels multiply together (see “Expanding duel”).

Special symbols

Issen

Substitutes for regular symbols and appears on reels 2–5. An expanded duel reel is Issen too, carrying the winner's multiplier.

Duel

Lands on reels 2–4 only and does not pay on lines itself. The reel it lands on expands into Issen × a multiplier (×2, ×3, ×4, ×5, ×10, ×20, ×50, ×100).

Small boat

Does not pay on lines. 3 or more start Late Arrival.

Features

Expanding duel

Duels land on reels 2–4 only. The reel a duel lands on expands: Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro each draw a multiplier (×2, ×3, ×4, ×5, ×10, ×20, ×50, ×100); the higher one wins, and a tie goes to Musashi. The whole reel becomes Issen (wild) × the winner's multiplier. Duels happen in the base game too.

Multipliers multiply

When a line crosses several duel reels, their multipliers multiply rather than add. With all three duel reels open, every line through them carries the product of three multipliers — that is where this game's biggest wins come from.

Late Arrival — sticky duel reels

3/4/5 small boats award 10/12/15 spins of Late Arrival; 3 or more during the feature add 3 spins. In Late Arrival every reel that duels sticks for the rest of the round (multiplier included) and no longer spins or duels. Duels on the triggering spin are not carried in — the feature starts from a clean grid.

Late meter — Musashi arrives

The longer Late Arrival goes without a duel, the stronger the late-coming Musashi gets: his multiplier is at least ×2 → ×3 → ×3 → ×4 → ×5. When the meter is full (4 spins in a row without a duel), Musashi arrives on the next spin: a duel reel that is not yet stuck and has no boat in view is picked and forced to duel (if every such reel shows a boat, the arrival waits for the next spin). Any duel resets the meter.

Volatility — positioning

Volatility 26.31. Hit rate 20.56% counts rounds with any win; 5.76% of all rounds return at least the stake. The base game carries about 42% of the RTP (it duels and multiplies too); the big swings come from stuck multipliers multiplying through Late Arrival. This describes the product's positioning and does not guarantee session outcomes.

Two-tier bonus buy

Pay 140.01× the bet for Late Arrival, or 429.11× for “Opening duel” — reel 3 always duels on the first spin and then stays stuck. Each tier is priced from the expected value measured along its own buy path (buy RTP 96.15% and 96.15%) and calibrated separately from the base game.

Sources & verification scope

This product specification is written and maintained by its developer, Akitsora Gaming (AKI電子 in Taiwan). Measurement methods and sample information for RTP, volatility and hit rate appear in the specification table. Sampled results have uncertainty; RTP describes long-run return, not an individual player or session outcome.

Internal simulations and tests are not independent certification. We do not currently hold GLI or BMM certification reports. Supply to a market requiring third-party certification depends on completing its requirements.

The story

Fiction and adapted settings written by Akitsora Gaming for this title, including invented dialogue and events. This is not a historical or folklore reference. The rules and specification tables define the gameplay and math.

Tides of the Kanmon Strait lash the lonely shore where one swordsman waits since dawn.
Fear not the blade drawn early, but the rival who arrives late.

I. The Long Wait on Funashima

In the spring of the Keichō era, on a windswept islet in the Kanmon Strait called Funashima, master swordsman Sasaki Kojiro arrived at daybreak. Across his shoulders hung the long nodachi blade people nicknamed the Drying Pole, and he stood watching the cold surf roll in as the appointed hour came and went without a single sail on the horizon.

His rival, Miyamoto Musashi, was intentionally late to the island shore. Legend tells how Musashi lingered ashore until the morning sun climbed high in the sky, carving a heavy wooden bokuto from a spare oar aboard the ferry and stepping barefoot through the shallows only when the strait’s shifting tide had turned in his favor. Every brushstroke of ink and spray of surf captures the breathtaking stillness that precedes a single decisive strike.

II. Expanding Reels of the Duel

This five-reel slot brings Japan’s most famous sword fight straight onto the three middle columns of the board. Whenever a Duel symbol lands on any of those central reels in the base game or free spins, that entire column expands into a shore-side clash between Musashi with his carved wooden oar and Kojiro with his long steel blade. Sea mist drifts across the wet sand of the strait while gulls wheel high above the silent wooden skiff on the shore.

In a single blinding flash of steel against wood, each duelist draws a combat multiplier: the higher value prevails on the beach, while any tie goes to Musashi. The entire column then transforms into a full-reel Issen Wild carrying the victor’s multiplier for every winning payline that cuts across that reel. Every brushstroke of ink and spray of surf captures the breathtaking stillness that precedes a single decisive strike.

III. Blades Crossing in Multiplication

Where a single duel sharpens a payline across the board, multiple duels on the very same spin unleash the true fury of the strait. Whenever a winning payline passes through two or all three expanded duel reels at once, their multipliers do not merely add together—they multiply against one another across the entire line. Sea mist drifts across the wet sand of the strait while gulls wheel high above the silent wooden skiff on the shore.

From woven sedge hats, straw sandals, warrior headbands, and conch horns to Kojiro’s long nodachi and Musashi’s twin wooden blades, any line bridging all three Issen Wild columns carries the product of three multipliers at once, echoing the decisive overhead strike that ended the historic duel in a single breath. Every brushstroke of ink and spray of surf captures the breathtaking stillness that precedes a single decisive strike.

IV. Late Arrival on Ganryujima

Landing enough Small Boat scatters anywhere in view launches the Late Arrival free-spins feature from a clean board. Because Musashi’s delay was a calculated tactic to fray his waiting opponent’s nerves, every spin that passes without a duel drives the Late Meter higher and raises the minimum multiplier Musashi can draw when blades finally cross. Sea mist drifts across the wet sand of the strait while gulls wheel high above the silent wooden skiff on the shore.

When the meter fills completely, Musashi arrives on the very next spin to force a duel on an unstuck column, and every reel that duels stays locked as a sticky multiplier wild for the rest of the round. Though the island was later named Ganryūjima after Kojiro’s school, the locked reels belong to the master who came late. Every brushstroke of ink and spray of surf captures the breathtaking stillness that precedes a single decisive strike.
