How wins work

  • The board has 6 reels × 7 rows and 117649 ways, with no fixed paylines.
  • Matching symbols that appear on 3 or more consecutive reels from the left pay.
  • The salmon is wild and substitutes for regular symbols (not for the river mouth or the waterfall); in the base game it appears on reels 2–6 only.
  • River mouths do not pay on ways: 3 or more anywhere start Upstream (free spins).

Paytable

Values are total-bet multiples per way: a win = total bet × table value × the product of each reel's multiplier sum (each reel adds its matching cells: a regular cell counts 1, a salmon with a multiplier counts that multiplier; with none this is simply the product of matching symbols per reel). The salmon (wild) counts as a matching symbol. A spawning spin is multiplied again by the spawning multiplier. The paytable is the same data shown in game.

Special symbols

Salmon

Wild. Substitutes for regular symbols but not for the river mouth or the waterfall. Reels 2–6 only in the base game; in Upstream it swims up and leaps waterfalls up to ×8.

River mouth

Scatter. No connection required: 3 or more start Upstream; 3 or more during the bonus add 3 spins. River mouths covered by a salmon do not count.

Features

Salmon run

Now and then a run of salmon swims up one of reels 2–6 in the base game: every cell on that reel except river mouths turns wild. A whole wild reel often links the ways on both sides.

Upstream

3/4/5 river mouths award 10/12/15 spins of Upstream; 3 or more during the bonus add 3 spins. 3 salmon start from the bottom row (downstream) and swim up one row every spin; any salmon spun in joins the river. Salmon in the river cover whatever was spun on their cell and count their own multiplier in the ways.

Waterfall leaps and merging

When the cell ahead lands a waterfall, the salmon leaps over it (one extra row) and climbs a step on the ladder: ×1 → ×2 → ×3 → ×5 → ×8. Salmon that crowd into one cell merge into one, climbing from the highest one (one step per extra fish).

Spawning and roe

A salmon that reaches the top row spawns: that spin's win is multiplied by (2 × its multiplier), so a ×8 salmon spawns for ×16, and several spawning together add up. It then leaves the river and leaves roe behind, which hatches into a new salmon at the bottom on the next spin. Occasionally a great run brings one new salmon to the bottom of every reel.

Volatility and positioning

Volatility 8.40. The 33.98% hit rate counts any winning round; 6.21% of all rounds return at least the stake. The base game carries about 51% of the RTP; Upstream comes about once every 86.19 spins, with multipliers climbing as the salmon go upstream and spawning multiplying a whole spin again. A single round is capped at 7,300× the bet and ends when it hits the cap. This describes the product's positioning and does not guarantee any single session.

Bonus buy

Pay 40.94× the bet to start Upstream (10 spins). The price follows the expected value of that purchase route (bonus-buy RTP 96.44%) and is calibrated separately from regular play.

Sources & verification scope

This product specification is written and maintained by its developer, Akitsora Gaming (AKI電子 in Taiwan). Measurement methods and sample information for RTP, volatility and hit rate appear in the specification table. Sampled results have uncertainty; RTP describes long-run return, not an individual player or session outcome.

Internal simulations and tests are not independent certification. We do not currently hold GLI or BMM certification reports. Supply to a market requiring third-party certification depends on completing its requirements.

The story

Fiction and adapted settings written by Akitsora Gaming for this title, including invented dialogue and events. This is not a historical or folklore reference. The rules and specification tables define the gameplay and math.

Autumn turns the valley maples crimson as the sockeye return from the sea,
fighting the cold white water cell by cell toward home.

I. Where the Tide Meets the River

In late autumn in the north, cold winds sweep across the coastal estuary where dark salt water and clear mountain water meet along a foaming river mouth seam. After years roaming the open Pacific, the salmon gather beneath that churning tide line, guided home by the unmistakable scent of the shallow gravel stream where they were born.

As soon as they enter fresh water, their silver ocean coats give way to fierce wedding colours: hooked jaws of mossy green and bodies of burning crimson. In the base game, a sudden salmon run can surge up an entire middle reel at once, turning every cell on that reel wild to join the ways on either side of the river.

II. Pushing Against the Autumn Current

Further up the mountain gorge, red maples and golden birches overhang the rushing water while a white-tailed eagle watches silently from a high cedar branch above the rapids. When the Upstream bonus begins, salmon start in the bottom row downstream and push one row higher against the cold current on every single spin of the round.

Where the rocky channel narrows between the river boulders, fish swimming up from below or spun onto the reels often crowd into the same cell at once. Instead of falling back into the eddies, they merge into a single lead salmon and climb higher up the multiplier ladder, carrying that combined strength forward through the ways.

III. Leaping the White Falls

Across the riverbed rise ledges of dark basalt where white water thunders down in a sheer curtain of cold spray and mist. Poised in the deep pool below the drop, a salmon lashes its tail against the current and launches itself into the air, arching red against the foam to clear the rock lip in a single determined bound.

On the board, whenever a waterfall symbol lands directly ahead of a climbing salmon, the fish leaps straight over the ledge to gain an extra row upstream and step up its multiplier ladder. Each leap over the roaring falls turns an obstacle in the river into pure momentum toward the quiet headwaters waiting above.

IV. Gravel Beds and New Life

At the very top of the board lie the quiet, sunlit gravel shallows of the spawning ground where the long journey began years ago. Reaching the top row triggers a whole-spin spawning multiplier scaled by the fish's own ladder value, and as the adult salmon leaves the river it deposits glowing orange roe among the smooth stones.

On the very next spin, those eggs hatch into fresh salmon at the bottom of the river to begin the climb anew, sometimes joined by a great run across every reel. It is the game's theme, not a promise: the cycle of the river belongs to nature, while every spin's outcome is still decided by the RGS random number generator.
