Kappa River

Win, and the kappa drags the reels down a notch — new lines, a bigger multiplier every pull.

Kappa River is a 5×5, 50-line slot. After a win the kappa drags the winning reels down, lines through new cells pay ×(n+1), its bow spills wilds, and stepping stones lead to a cross-the-river bonus.

How wins work

  • The board has 5 reels × 5 rows and 50 fixed paylines. 3 or more matching symbols on a line, starting from the leftmost reel, pay; the kappa's dish is wild.
  • After any line win, the next spin drags every reel used by the win down one position and pulls a new cell in from the top, up to 20 drags (×21).
  • On a drag-down spin only lines through the new cells pay — a symbol that merely moved down does not pay again; after a base spin stops, the kappa may also bow to turn 3–8 positions into wilds.
  • The stepping stone is the scatter: 3/4/5 on any board of the chain start the stepping-stones bonus once the chain ends (20.48× / 51.2× / 296.96× the bet to start).

Paytable

Values are multiples of the total bet for one payline: a line win = total bet × table value; on the n-th drag-down spin it is multiplied by (n+1). The kappa's dish (wild) substitutes for regular symbols and sits on reels 2–5 only (spilled wilds can land anywhere); the stepping stone does not pay. The paytable comes from the same source as the in-game display.

Special symbols

Kappa's dish

Wild. On the reels it sits on reels 2–5 only; spilled wilds can land anywhere. Substitutes for regular symbols, not for stepping stones.

Stepping stone

Scatter. No connection required: 3 or more on any board of the chain start the bonus — 3/4/5 → 20.48× / 51.2× / 296.96× the bet to start.

Features

Drag-down chain

Wins drag the reels down automatically, again and again while new wins keep coming. The n-th drag-down spin pays ×(n+1), up to 20 drags (×21). The chain counts as base game and costs nothing extra.

Bow

After a base spin stops, the kappa may bow: water spills from its dish and turns 3–8 positions into wilds for that spin.

Deep bow

On drag 6 (×7) the kappa bows deeply and spills 8–12 more wilds; those positions count as new cells.

Stepping stones

8 rows of 3 stones cross the river, and a kappa hides under one stone in each row. Every row crossed raises the multiplier on the starting value (×1.38, ×1.56, ×1.84, ×2.27, ×2.9, ×3.85, ×5.27, ×7.41); reaching the far bank pays ×7.41. Stepping on the kappa ends the bonus at ×1. After the first row you may go ashore at any time and take the current multiplier.

Ashore or one more

The multipliers are set so that going ashore and stepping one more row have the same expected value at every row: the bonus RTP is the same wherever you stop. Which stone you pick and when you stop change the ride, not the expected value. Where the kappa hides is decided by the RGS at the trigger.

Volatility and win distribution

RTP 96.80%, volatility 5.57. These rates use complete rounds started by a regular bet, including naturally triggered features. The 32.13% hit rate counts any winning round; 14.68% of all rounds return at least the stake. Maximum win is 2,200× the bet per round, and the independent simulation actually reaches it.

Sources & verification scope

This product specification is written and maintained by its developer, Akitsora Gaming (AKI電子 in Taiwan). Measurement methods and sample information for RTP, volatility and hit rate appear in the specification table. Sampled results have uncertainty; RTP describes long-run return, not an individual player or session outcome.

Internal simulations and tests are not independent certification. We do not currently hold GLI or BMM certification reports. Supply to a market requiring third-party certification depends on completing its requirements.

The story

Fiction and adapted settings written by Akitsora Gaming for this title, including invented dialogue and events. This is not a historical or folklore reference. The rules and specification tables define the gameplay and math.

A crystal summer stream echoing with the chorus of cicadas.
On a mossy boulder sits a kappa, a fresh green cucumber tied to its fishing line.

I. Cicada Song by the Summer Stream

Down a shaded country path where green willow branches brush the water, a mountain stream sparkles under the bright midday sun. Cicadas sing from the tall cedar trees while a mischievous green kappa lounges on a cool river boulder, dangling a bamboo rod baited with a crisp cucumber right above the passing ripples of the current.

In rural Japanese folklore the water sprite is famous for both its love of fresh cucumbers and its playful tugs from beneath the surface. Across the reels, chilled barley tea, river trout, and summer vegetables spin alongside the gleaming Kappa's dish, which acts as a wild symbol to connect paying lines along the stream.

II. Dragging the Reels Beneath the Surface

The moment any winning line lands across the board, the kappa splashes into the clear water and grabs the bottom of every reel involved in that win. With a gleeful tug from below, the Drag-down chain pulls those winning reels down by one full notch, drawing fresh symbols in from the top of the screen.

Only paylines passing through the newly arrived symbols score on the pull, preventing old lines from simply repeating in place as they shift downward. As long as fresh lines keep forming through the new cells, the kappa keeps pulling the reels down and raising the spin multiplier one step higher with every single tug.

III. A Polite Bow and Spilled Water

Despite its reputation for river pranks, a kappa can never resist returning a polite greeting to a guest standing on the bank. When a base spin comes to rest, the sprite may suddenly offer a courteous Bow, tipping the shallow dish on the crown of its head so clear river water splashes across random positions and turns them wild.

Push a drag-down streak far enough and the delighted creature performs an enthusiastic Deep bow, spilling even more wild dishes across the grid at once. Because those splashed positions also count as brand-new cells on the board, a deep bow in the middle of a chain can carry the winning streak even further.

IV. Stepping Stones Across the Current

Collect enough Stepping stone scatters during a spin or drag-down chain and the river opens into a crossing bonus. Rows of mossy stones lead toward the far bank, with the kappa hiding beneath one stone in every row; each safe step raises the multiplier on the starting prize, and after the first row you may step ashore whenever you please.

The payout ladder is carefully balanced so that going ashore or taking one more step carries the same mathematical expectation at every row along the river. Where the kappa hides is fixed by the RGS random number generator the moment the bonus begins: the river crossing is the game's playful climax, not a promise.
