Midsummer noon, and the whole avenue rings with wooden clappers.
The great banner sweeps high as the dancers leap into the street.
I. Clappers Ringing Down the Summer Avenue
Under the blazing August sun, the main avenue of the festival town is lined with cheering crowds and rows of red-and-white paper lanterns. Ahead of the dancers rolls the decorated sound truck, its drums and shamisen riffs echoing between the buildings, and at the call of the lead singer a hundred pairs of wooden clappers snap in unison.
The wide reel grid is that festival street right in front of the viewing stands. Across the board, painted fans, bright festival coats, and booming taiko drums spin beside the red-and-black Naruko clapper, which acts as a wild symbol on the inner reels to keep the ways flowing.
II. Great Banners and the Street Parade
At the head of the formation, the flag bearer swings a massive painted banner on a bamboo pole that arcs across the whole width of the lane. Unlike stationary folk dances, yosakoi is a marching dance: the troupe advances down the avenue step by step, carrying its rhythm forward with every beat of the music.
During the base game, a sudden Street parade may burst onto the avenue as a multi-reel formation of dancers leaps into view and halts across the inner reels. Every reel where the troupe stands becomes wild from top to bottom for that spin, turning the middle of the street into a wall of wilds.
III. Joining the Line During Honban
Collect enough wooden Entry tag scatters and the whistle blows for Honban — the main parade before the judges' stand. The troupe enters on the left side of the board as a full-reel wild formation and marches one reel to the right on every spin, carrying winning ways along with it down the street.
Better still, whenever a spin produces a win, more dancers leap down from the viewing stands to join the back of the formation. Each winning spin makes the troupe one reel wider from the next spin onward, growing into a sweeping block of wild reels whose width is kept for the entire bonus.
IV. Confetti Over the Grand Finale
On the spin when the leading rank of dancers reaches the rightmost reel, the music swells into The finale. The banner sweeps skyward, gold confetti rains over the avenue, and that spin's entire payout is multiplied by the current reel width of the troupe before the formation loops back to the left entrance at full size.
Cheers echo down the sunlit street as the wooden clappers strike their final chord and the dancers take their bow. That rousing parade is the game's festive theme, not a promise: every spin's outcome is still decided independently by the RGS random number generator.
